The Queen was appointed to the throne on the 6th February 1952 and this year Her Majesty celebrated a Platinum Jubilee, marking an incredible 70 years of service. Of course, this calls for a celebration and from the 2nd to 5th of June, there will be big festivities taking place across the UK during The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Central Weekend.
Shire Leasing will be closed during the special bank holiday weekend. But in commemoration of the milestone, Shire has committed to planting 70 trees a day (representing every year of The Queen’s service) for the entire month of June.
In April 2022, Shire Leasing announced it had commissioned the planting of over 5,000 trees through its ‘Tree for a Lease’ initiative, where every new lease transaction results in a tree being planted to support climate action and reforestation in North-West Madagascar. This is just one of the many initiatives Shire Leasing are involved in to support the environment, with more localised work including financially supporting UK SMEs to invest in zero/no emission vehicles through their Driving Clean Air programme, which provides financial assistance to businesses impacted by Clean Air Zones.

Shire has grown its focus on the importance of sustainability and climate action over the past few years and their efforts and pioneering initiatives were recognised by the industry’s 2022 Leasing World Customer Service Excellence Awards, where they picked up an award for ‘Supporting Customer ESG Goals’.
