On Friday 9th December Shire Leasing Plc were awarded the Diversity Champion of the Year.
Financial Controller, Emma Carruthers and I attended the Leasing Industry Charity Christmas Lunch in London, where the Leasing Foundation Awards 2016 were held. The Awards recognise people and organisations who have developed and supported the growth of the Asset Finance Industry within the last 12 months.
Shire were awarded for our commitment to a sustainable framework to recruit and develop women at every stage of their careers. Our gender balanced workforce and senior management team, with the Executive Board consisting of 5 females to 4 males, brings a different perspective for decision making and boardroom effectiveness. We believe that reflecting wider diversity in society amongst our staff, our customers and our stakeholders improves business performance.
Females contribute to our Sales, Finance, Operations, Legal and Compliance and HR departments. Our Operations Board holds a ratio of 50:50, this is made up of middle and junior managers; this balance has been achieved through a mix of organic growth within functions and through development.
At Shire Leasing we provide a great deal of commitment to training our staff and supporting their personal development, both male and female. We are proud to be exceeding Lord Davies’ recommendation of a minimum of 25% female representatives in boardrooms for the FTSE 100 by 2015.
