Shire Business Group is offering graduates the chance to take their first steps on their career ladders.
Based in Tamworth and employing 190 people, the award winning Shire Business Group provides business support to over 50,000 SMEs across the UK, helping them to prepare for future growth.
The Graduate Programme was created in 2012, with the aim of bringing new talent into the organisation. In return it offered opportunities for new graduates to experience working for a large organisation. Unlike many programmes, Shire offers a broad range of experience for its graduates across all the businesses in the Group, including finance, commercial funding, debt recovery, insurance and marketing.
John Worton, Shire’s joint chairman, said “Investing in new talent is critical for any business that wants to move forward. Our Graduate Programme means we can recruit candidates of the highest calibre, and help them make the transition from the academic to the professional environment. We’re able to identify individual potential, and develop them into the next generation of leaders and innovators.”
Shire provides its graduates with an exciting and challenging 12 month programme, giving them the chance to manage real projects across the group’s individual businesses. They are given specific objectives and targets to meet, and receive the support of a mentor in each business division they’re working for.
Shire’s graduate recruitment manager, James Osborne said “The future looks positive for our graduate stream, and we’re excited about finding talented people who we expect to take on senior roles pretty quickly.”
