Shire Leasing Plc was praised as a ‘highly commended employer’ at a business awards evening hosted by the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce. The ceremony, which took place at the Staffordshire County Showground on the 9th July, was held to highlight the region’s most rounded and successful businesses.
More than 420 guests were in attendance at the ceremony, which was directed by Dr David Byron, former Managing Director of BMI Baby airline. Representing Shire Leasing Plc were a strong team of nine, including founders John Worton and Martin Smith and Directors Mark Picken and Helen Lumb, all dressed in their most sharp and elegant outfits in line with the event’s black tie dress code.
The ceremony was initiated by drinks and networking from 6.45pm, followed by a 3-course dinner later in the evening, with the awards announced in stages up until 11.10pm. In total, over 350 businesses were up for awards, which were split over 11 different categories plus an additional award for Business of the Year. Shire Leasing were finalists for Employer of the Year, an accreditation awarded to a Staffordshire based business ‘that has applied its human and supporting resources to improve staff development, work/life balance and business performance.’
In a category that had over 500 entries in total, Shire Leasing Plc were narrowed down into the final 6! Narrowly missing out on the crown for Employer of the Year, the steering committee rewarded the business with the status of being a ‘highly commended employer’. The event proved to be a great night and confirms without doubt the great strides that have been made by the company in recent years. With performances like this, the future looks increasingly bright for Shire Leasing Plc.
